John 13:1-17; 34
Jesus and the disciples were a community. At their last meal together, Jesus showed the disciples by example how to love others when he washed their feet, and then later gave them a new commandment. Read the story from John 13:1 - 17. Imagine being there. How do you think it felt for the disciples to be cared for in this way by Jesus? Talk about a time that someone in one of the communities you are a part of showed love to you. What was that like?

Wondering Questions
I wonder how our family could help others in our community?
Blessing Your Community
While it would be impossible to offer a blessing or kind word to everyone in your community, it is possible to spread kindness in small ways. One of those ways is by sharing words or images of kindness in your community. Some ideas for offering blessings include:
-
Painting rocks with eco - friendly paints with uplifting words or messages and placing them along the side of paths or sidewalks.
-
Display a message of blessing -- either a line of scripture such as “This is the day that the Lord has made!” or another word of encouragement -- in your front window, or write it on your sidewalks or driveway in chalk.
